Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's expected for questions to be raised about his position after a further heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got a lot of backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

Slot highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with performances this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we still have that badge on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to fight.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to the top, demonstrate to all once more the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
