Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left several individuals hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
