Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, that featured Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and debuted on October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it has a reputation for delighting in violence and madness with the same glee, all while weaving captivating, politically driven stories. It’s no surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose projects have represented all of those elements.

Show Details

Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' format by having a fresh backdrop and ensemble in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

Cast and Future Plans

Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney finalizing a new overall deal with the creator.

“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game realms ever created. And throughout this process, my FX family always encourages me with their constant belief and assistance.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a story,” said Hawley. “To produce a large-scale action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always examining the essence of society through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, ambitious sensibility to the television.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
