Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.
White House Call
The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president informed reporters. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Community Response
Community members assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid public safety in DC.
Honoring the Soldier
“She was the kind of student that educators wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a bright grin and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” the principal, the principal of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always eager to assist people.”
Memorial plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Government Adjustments
Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and charges of violent assault while armed.
The tragedy led the administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing entry permits to holders of Afghan passports.
Status of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, according to the AP.
